BMI Every time I go anywhere near a doctor, get a medical (Commercial License), or do a "Pit Stop" (work related health check).... they ramble on about my Body Mass Index (BMI) being too high.... "Your BMI is 40... This puts you in the very severely obese or Morbidly Obese Category. You need to lose weight". Now, I am the first to agree that I carry a bit 'extra' but "Morbidly Obese"? FFMI I got sick of being told about my BMI, so I did some research and found some info on 'Fat Free Mass Index' (FFMI). "BMI for Bodybuilders". Ah.... this is more like, but.... I took a very scientific/mathematical approach (installed an app) and calculated my FFMI. Now, I will say upfront that I am not exactly sure how much body fat I am carrying, but using a variety of methods (electronic scales, tape measure, calipers and my favorite: "Eyeballing the mirror"), I came to the ballpark figure of 35% body fat. And this is where the but comes in... According to a couple of different apps, my FFMI is 26.18 The information in the app then tells me this is the 'anabol' range (not reachable by natural means)... ie: Must be on the juice. Apparently some body building comps do not permit people with an FFMI of 25+ to enter. I have no plans to enter any comps but still. I am not and never have taken any steroids. So, according to the 'experts', I am either morbidly obese, or on steroids... (or both?). Really? I prefer to think more along the lines of "genetically gifted"... :icecream: Thoughts?
