Best shoe for a powerlifting style squat. Nike romeleo 2 has 0.75 inch heel, addidas powerlift 2.0 have a 0.6 heel. Addidas also bit cheeper. I havent tried either on. Has any tried both and can explain there preference. Reebok also hace the flat power shoe like a glorified chuck taylor? Louie Simmons says the best shoe is no shoe at all, gut I dont like bare foot squats, thanks.

Just depends man. Some people like the Reebok, but I've heard a bunch of complaints about them too. Heard a couple stories about the sides blowing out, which was NOT supposed to happen in those. I personally haven't bothered buying a pair because my chucks are still in good nick, and until I see or hear more positive reviews from people around me I won't bother with them.

For narrower stance stuff like high bar and front squats I'll use my do-wins, and I stick to flats for low bar stuff.

Big numbers get put up in both weightlifting shoes and flat heel shoes, so I'm of the opinion of just using what works for you. Lilliebridge was using a heel for quite a while and only switched to flats in the past year I believe. Carl Ynvgar Christensen wears Adidas with a heel as well I think, and has put up 490kg in single ply.

    I have nike romaleo 2's

Really good quality, you'll feel it as soon as you strap it on

I use it for squats and deadlifts, as I like to push off with the front of my foot and not my heel and the shoes do exactly that for moi

yeh ure right, dan green wears do wins, carl ynvgar wears red addidas, lilibridge wears the reeboks...all huge squatter, and could al squat loads wearing any shoes so its not the shoes per se... the nike seem very popular and I didn't knoiw was it just because the look cool?, at $200 they should be good, I like the ankle stability theory in the nikes, I have chucks but think its time to invest in something better, the addidas powerlift look good also???

Shitty old converse with good properly fitted innersoles crew up in here...
When lifting heavy i used to kick off the shoes. Although my ankles do pronate (roll inward) and heavy squats one day gave me a rather nasty pain in my sciatic nerve was horrible. Now since has been corrected with the inners and a bit of physio. Not quite ready to go pushing it as hard as i was but maybe soon.

I havent looked at th Inovates i have narrowed it down to either the nike romeleo or the addidas powerlift 2.0 The addidas are cheaper and also have more shallow heel. Just curious if any one has tried both of these

Got a pair of Adidas adipowers which I used for a year or so with a narrower stance. Had heaps of knee issues so using chucks now with wider stance and squat is stronger then ever.

Just comes down to what you train in and what works for you, throwing on a pair of shoes isn't going to add 20kg to your squat so unless your having trouble hitting depth or issues with forward lean there's really no reason to squat in oly shoes.
