    Hi all,
After some advice around my nutrition. Basically the only time of the day I can reliably train is early morning (5am, or could start as late as 530am). I’m going to be following a strength based training program (max. 5-6 reps on core lifts), so my understanding is I shouldn’t be doing this in a fasted state. So I have a few questions...
    1) is it true that it’s best to not train in that low rep range on an empty stomach?
    2) if the above is true, are BCAAs a suitable option to supplement with before I train or do I need carbs?
    3) if I should be having carbs to provide energy for the workout, what are my best options for getting carbs in at 4:30am and being able to start training at 5:30am??

Please ask anything that you need clarified.
    Cheers

Have a bowl of oats with frozen berries. The only fasted thing that makes a tiny bit of sense is cardio.

BCAAs are not a meal replacement.

    Fair enough.
Given my timeframe, is less than an hour sufficient digestion time for oats and berries? I was more leaning towards a carb supplement of sorts that would deliver required energy without taking too long to digest.

    Appreciate your input.

An hour is plenty of time to get your digestion started. If you have a slow metabolism then maybe eat a little less.

I'd go whole food over a supplement anyday.

its all personal, reality is even if you ate oats before training its most likely the carbs u had before bed that are stored giving u the energy for the workout next morning, Personally my performance would be decreased if i ate that time. and i also train 5.30am, but i train fasted, i perform better.

Some options are 250ml egg whites and 250ml pineapple juice pre training, BCAA and juice intra workout, etc. See what works for you.
